Before you arrive
Before day one, make sure these basics are already in motion. If you are coming to the office at The Hague Tech, the People lead (Robin) or Technology lead (Walter) will confirm the exact meeting point and arrival time.
- Your signed contract is on file.
- Any contract-specific onboarding or payroll paperwork has been shared and is in progress.
- A laptop, charger, and core accounts have been prepared.
- The People lead (Robin) or Technology lead (Walter) has shared your arrival time and office location.
Bring a valid ID on your first day. If you are starting remotely, keep it available for identity verification during the onboarding call.
What your first day looks like
The goal of day one is not to make you productive in four hours. It is to make sure you know the people, tools, and routines that will help you settle in quickly.
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 09:30 | Welcome, coffee, and office orientation |
| 10:00 | Laptop handoff and account setup |
| 11:00 | Team introductions and Slack access |
| 12:30 | Lunch with leadership or your buddy |
| 14:00 | Product, client, and company overview |
| 16:00 | First-week priorities and wrap-up |
Accounts and tools you should receive
By the end of your first day, you should have access to:
- Google Workspace (email and calendar)
- Slack
- ClickUp
- GitHub (if your role needs it)
- 1Password
- MFA or 2FA enabled on every work account that supports it
- Deel if your contract setup uses it
- Any country- or contract-specific payroll setup you need
If you are joining engineering, continue with the Engineering Starter Kit to finish the default laptop and account baseline.
If anything is missing, ask the Technology lead (Walter) immediately rather than waiting for the end of the week.
Your first-week checklist
The first week is for orientation, not perfection. These are the outcomes that matter:
- You can sign in to every required system.
- MFA or 2FA is enabled everywhere it should be.
- You know how to book leave and submit an expense.
- You have met the People lead (Robin) or Technology lead (Walter), your team, and your buddy.
- You understand the priorities for your first 30 days.
Your first 30 days
By the end of your first month, you should be able to:
- Deliver your first meaningful piece of work with leadership support.
- Explain your team’s priorities and how your role contributes.
- Use core workflows independently for leave, expenses, and support.
- Work confidently in Helixiora’s remote-first and async-first model.
Where to go next
After onboarding, most people next need the time off policy, expenses page, and travel guide.
