Holiday allowance
For this sample handbook, a full-time employee receives 25 paid holiday days per calendar year. Part-time employees receive the same allowance on a pro-rated basis.
| Leave type | Sample policy |
|---|---|
| Annual leave | 25 days for full-time employees |
| Public holidays | Observed separately and not deducted from leave balance |
| Part-time contracts | Calculated pro rata |
| Carry-over | Remaining balance should be used by 31 March of the next year |
Replace these numbers with Helixiora’s actual employment policy before publishing.
How to request time off
Time off should be registered in the HR portal, not handled only in chat or email.
- Open the
HR Portal. - Go to
Time Off. - Select your dates and leave type.
- Add a short note if coverage or handoff matters.
- Submit the request for manager approval.
For leave blocks longer than three working days, submit the request at least two weeks in advance where possible.
Sick leave
If you are sick, do not log this as vacation.
- Notify your manager before 09:00 in your local time zone.
- Mark yourself unavailable in Slack.
- Register the absence in the HR portal the same day.
If your absence lasts multiple days, stay in touch with your manager on the expected return date and any handoff implications.
Practical rules
- Book leave before making non-refundable travel plans.
- Check team coverage before requesting popular holiday periods.
- Use vacation time throughout the year instead of carrying a large balance into Q4.
The key principle is simple: visibility matters as much as approval. Colleagues should be able to plan around your absence without surprises.
