Holiday allowance

Helixiora uses an unlimited paid holiday leave approach, based on responsible planning and People lead alignment.

How to request time off

There is currently no separate HR portal for leave. Time off should be agreed directly with the People lead and made visible to the team.

  1. Ask the People lead in writing.
  2. Agree the dates and any coverage or handoff needs.
  3. Put the absence in your calendar.
  4. Update your Slack status when the time off starts.
  5. If the leave affects client or team work, leave a short written handoff.

For leave blocks longer than three working days, submit the request at least two weeks in advance where possible.

Sick leave

If you are sick, do not log this as vacation.

  • Notify the People lead (Robin) before 09:00 in your local time zone. If unavailable, notify the Technology lead (Walter).
  • Mark yourself unavailable in Slack.
  • Keep the People lead updated in writing, since there is no separate HR system today.

If your absence lasts multiple days, stay in touch with the People lead on the expected return date and any handoff implications.

Practical rules

  • Book leave before making non-refundable travel plans.
  • Check team coverage before requesting popular holiday periods.
  • Use vacation time throughout the year instead of carrying a large balance into Q4.

The key principle is simple: visibility matters as much as approval. Colleagues should be able to plan around your absence without surprises.
